The Weekend

I had a wonderful weekend.  One of the best weekends I have had in a very long time.
I did a little shopping, a little cooking, some antiquing and, of course, spent time with my dogs.
Playing...
Hiking...
Violet
Sadie
and helping Snoop with snow removal (note the snow on his coat :)...
Snoop
Although these may be simple things...
Isn't it the simple things that bring us the most pleasure?
Have a great night.

I Love My Dogs

I know that some of you may be rolling your eyes at this post and that's OK.  Regardless, I do love my dogs and I am going to reiterate why.
First of all, they're cute...
Secondly, they're happy.  I can be having a terrible day, walk in the door and there they are smiling at me.
They keep me active.  They are always ready to go for a walk and often demand it ;)  Mostly, we just walk through our woods...
They appreciate home...
But are always up for an adventure.  As was the case today - they stood by my RAV4 and waited to go for a hike.  True story.  So off we went...
 to roads less traveled...
where I stepped out of my comfort zone and just enjoyed the day.
That's what I love most about my dogs.
They have taught me to let things go and just be.
They reemphasize that life is an adventure.
That I should enjoy the ride.
And I should live it like a lucky dog :)

Eleven Days

It has been 11 days since my last post.  During that time, many things have happened.  I purchased an oxalis plant that I have placed on my Mary Engelbreit cake stand.  It is sweet  after all.
Superman came for a visit...
Flowers were purchased to help brighten the house.
A berry crisp was made for Superman...
Mud, my arch nemesis, has made an ugly, dirty return...
However, with her return comes a wee bit of green...
and walks with a hairy, little, kinda white dog...
and a big black dog and a little white cat up the road...
to barren fields...
whose curbs are adorned with snow...
and free range chickens...
that also enjoy romps on these Spring days.

Who Needs an Alarm Clock?

Who needs an alarm clock when you already have a couple of little white alarm clocks that are all about routine?  They're up at the crack of dawn reminding you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that proper nutrition is very, very important to one's overall health.
They are right there encouraging you to not only get out that door for your evening walk, but also encouraging you to pick up your pace and, therefore, increasing your heart's aerobic capacity.  Who cares if the temperatures are only in the teens?  Bundle up!!!  You burn more calories when it is cold anyway.
When they stop for potty breaks or run off after a squirrel, you get a chance to not only catch your breath, but also appreciate the beauty of a sunset.
Think about it.  Do you really need an alarm clock?  I don't.  My little alarm clocks not only tell me what time it is, but they also ensure that I have a good night's sleep.
I'll take the sound of a cat purring and the sound of a little white dog's nails clipping as she races across the room to get to me over the ticktock of a clock any day.

A Warm Front

has blown through bringing the temperature to a balmy 55 degrees.
The snow pack has mostly melted and my trails are snow free.
I am not sure who enjoys it more...

Me or the dogs?
Either way, it is a win/win situation :)

A Wee Bit of the Green

Things are finally beginning to green up around here.  It has been a cold, long winter and I cannot say that I will be unhappy to see it go.  I think my dogs will agree with me.  They bring me so much enjoyment.  To most, a walk is just a walk, but to my dogs - it is the world.  In turn, it means the world to me.

I hope you enjoyed a wee bit of the green on tonight's walk.  Now get out and go for a walk yourself.
Have a great night.

Happy Friday everybody :)

Good Friday Morning

I took today off from work and I am so glad I did.  It is an absolutely gorgeous day here in the Finger Lakes.  It is cold (we had a frost last night), however, the blue skies and bright sunshine more than makes up for it.  I have already taken my two best friends for a walk.

Things are really starting to green up...
The robins were singing away...
The lower pond looks so beautiful and tranquil...

The skunk cabbage is out...
It is spring in the Finger Lakes and I love it.  I could be outside all day long.  However, I have to get ready for Easter so I have to do a little grocery shopping and most likely catch a bite to eat.
I'm off.
Have a great morning :)
