Easter Recap

With the exception of the fact that my daughter was not here with us today, the day itself was great!!!
The house was very festive...
There were flowers...
and candy...
a new sweatshirt :)...
great, colorful food...
full of phytochemicals :)

delicate potholders :)...

family:)

they didn't know I was taking this picture :)
stimulating conversation that went down like this...
DJ, "Did you know if you say gullible really slow, it sounds like orange?"
Brenda's eyes dart back and forth.
DJ, "You just said gullible really slow in your head, didn't you?"
God, I love that kid!!!
pretty, pretty girls :)
a walk to the pond...
in search of tadpoles and frogs!!!
boys that do not enjoy having their picture taken...
Another stimulating conversation that occurred while taking this picture.
Daniel, "What time do you think it is by viewing the sun?"
DJ looks to the sky and replies, "About 1:30."
Nerds - you gotta love em :)

After dinner basketball watching for DJ...
A hike for me...

And a visit from a boy who will be taking a very special Easter basket to someone that I love with all my heart.
I hope your Easter was enjoyable too.
Have a great night :)

Saturday Snippets

With a few snippets from Friday thrown in.  It is true that we often take the little things for granted.  However, it is those little things that can make your day worthy.
Take for instance, a trip to Wegmans...
can be like driving into a wonderland...
Seriously!!!
a walk along Canandaigua Lake...
and you are in another country...
a clean barn porch where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea...
eating one of the very best fish fries you have ever had...
prepared by your local fire department...
in a facility that they had decorated ever so sweetly...

receiving a gift in your mailbox from your post woman :)
and ending your evening being mesmerized by lighted forsythia branches...
And, beginning the next day admiring your grape hyacinths...
watching for the Easter Bunny...
decorating with the old...
and colorful...
enjoying the view of the blue sky out your freshly washed windows...
and the enjoying the green of your plants...
and the smile on your son's face...
I know this post may be corny, but so what.  These are the things I am grateful for and these are the blessings of my life.
Happy Holy Saturday :)

Good Friday Morning

I took today off from work and I am so glad I did.  It is an absolutely gorgeous day here in the Finger Lakes.  It is cold (we had a frost last night), however, the blue skies and bright sunshine more than makes up for it.  I have already taken my two best friends for a walk.

Things are really starting to green up...
The robins were singing away...
The lower pond looks so beautiful and tranquil...

The skunk cabbage is out...
It is spring in the Finger Lakes and I love it.  I could be outside all day long.  However, I have to get ready for Easter so I have to do a little grocery shopping and most likely catch a bite to eat.
I'm off.
Have a great morning :)

Preparing For Easter Brunch

I will be having my family over this weekend for an Easter brunch.  Usually, we have a dinner (either at my sister's house or here).  However, this year we all wanted to do something a little different.  Brunch seems like an ideal solution.  However, we don't really want to pay the extra money for a restaurant and it's just nice to have it in a home.  So our home is it.  We will have the meal at 11:00 AM and then the rest of the day we can do as we please.  (An Easter hike is my preference).
My favorite thing about having a brunch is the fact that I can prepare all of the food the day before and just heat in the oven right before my family arrives.  In case you are wondering what our brunch will consist of, wonder no more.  The following items will be made available to the special guests (that would be my family) that will be honoring me with their presence:

beverages will include, but not be limited to:  coffee, tea, juice
ham
asparagus
ham and cheese breakfast casserole
polenta and vegetable bake
fruit salad
strawberry-rhubarb crisp
home fries
banana nut bread and blueberry muffins
poached eggs

Sounds delicious, doesn't it?  I think it does and I am excited to prepare it.  In fact, I think I am going to make the banana nut bread tonight and put it in the freezer until Saturday night.  One item off my to do list, nine more to go :)  Better get going.
Have a great night.
