Last night as I sat on the couch contemplating some of the greater issues of society, I had an epiphany.

Now maybe it was due in part to the fact that I had just watched the movie, Up. Maybe it was due to the fact that I was wearing my new pajamas that have dogs on them. I'm not quite sure which yet. Nonetheless, I decided to test my theory.

So I summoned Doug over in my sweetest dog voice, "Here Doug. Come here Doug. Who's a good Doug?"
I swear he came right over, sat by my side and said,

Isn't it great to be Master :)

Have a great day!

Look Who Came to Visit

My Dad and his wife, Charlotte, came to visit us today.

They came bearing gifts and yuletide joy.

Oh yeah, and they came to welcome this girl home...

to see this guy....
They don't look a bit alike do they (ha!)

I think he's taller than you Dad :)

The old guys...

Definitely an old guy :)

DJ helped shred the cheese for our tortilla soup...
Thank you DJ.

Good food...

Good family...

Good time...

As someone I love recently said, "Isn't it nice to be somewhere and know that you are loved."
I couldn't agree more.
Thank you for a wonderful evening :)

Breakfast for My Princess

Because I love my daughter, I will be serving her the very best when she arrives home. Her first breakfast will be:

Egg Casserole from the cookbook, Sharing and Caring With Love from Vincent House

8 slices white bread
10 oz sharp cheddar cheese
4 cups milk
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp onion powder
dash pepper
1/2 lb bacon
8 eggs

Toast bread and cut into cubes and put in greased 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle cheese over toast cubes. Beat eggs; add milk, salt, mustard, onion powder and pepper together and pour over cheese. Cover and chill overnight. Uncover and bake at 325 for one hour. Fry bacon until crisp. Crumble over casserole last 10 minutes of baking time. Serve immediately.

Refreshments will include orange juice and coffee.

I am really looking forward to preparing this meal. Can't wait.

Bag Sales - You Gotta Love Them

I went to my favorite thrift store today and they were having a $5 bag sale. You could fill your bag up with as much stuff as you could and pay only $5 for everything. I purchased three items. A cloth tree that reminds me of sewing projects from my high school Home Economics class. I love it. It reminds me of simpler times.

A quilted Coldwater Creek jacket. I can't imagine what somebody originally paid for this.

And finally, a little cast iron bench. I have the teddy bear that my Uncle Tommy gave me when I was a little girl setting on it.

Bag sales. I really do love them.

A Little Christmas Tree and a Happy Birthday

OK, maybe the tree is not so little. It is beautiful though. It holds ornaments that I have collected for the past 20+ years. Both handmade and bought.

My star for instance is handmade (cardboard and tin foil - more than 20 years old). I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Hallmark ornaments containing baby pictures of my kids...

A Westie ornament in memory of my beloved Teddy. DJ put him up high so he could watch over us...

A star Dave picked up in Kentucky...

A Yankee ornament, of course...

A handmade angel by my best friend and another Yankee fan, Jan.

Today would have been Jan's 56th birthday. Happy birthday Jannie. I miss you every day.
And last, but certainly not least, my two skaters that will be put on the tree on December 21st when my daughter comes home. Even DJ won't put his up until she is here.

We can't wait:)
