Sunday Morning

I actually took this video yesterday and sent it to my daughter.  She said it reminded her of the last five minutes of the CBS program, Sunday Morning.  What a compliment.  The last five minutes are my favorite part of the show.

Saturday Snippets

After a sleepless night, I received wonderful news this morning.  My cat, Stripes, is recovering from a blocked urinary track.  Dave found him almost dead yesterday morning, rushed him to the vets where they informed him that Stripes had no kidney function and his temperature wasn't even registering on the thermometer.  His body was shutting down.  We had two options - euthanasia or insertion of a catheter to remove blockage and help him pass urine.  We chose the latter.  We love that cat.  I am so, so glad we did.  It was really iffy.  However, by this morning, he had eaten all his food and was meowing, purring and rolling on his back for attention.
Per my veterinarian, Stripes is recovering, "better than I ever expected."
Made my day a little sweeter.  

That's my compost pile that Violet is standing next to.

Even the little bit of snow that was left from Monday's Nor' Easter didn't bother me.

It was gone by the end of the day anyway...

Besides we need to replenish our water supply...

And the creeks are so pretty because of it...

 

 The boys staked my crab apple tree and it is standing straighter and taller than it ever has...

The sun was shining brightly which totally effects my mood (in a good way :)...

We attended my nephew Daniel's track and field invitational...

He did not place, but that's OK.  At least, he was invited.

At the end of the day, I returned home, sat on settee that I just purchased and reflected on the day.
And, then I said to myself, "Damn, I hope I sleep well tonight!!!"

Pretty Is As Pretty Does

A Nor'easter was predicted to hit our area last night.
And, hit our area, it did.
While it is pretty...

Why does it have to be so ugly?
Just look what it has done to my crab apple tree.
This is the tree last week - beautiful buds...

I love that tree.  It is my favorite tree on this property.  I had wanted one for a long time and told the gentleman at a local nursery so.  He went to his source and picked this tree out specifically with me in mind.  How thoughtful was that?  It is a gorgeous specimen.
This is it today...

Tipped right over.  Makes me sad.  The only upside is that it did not break.  It has just been uprooted.  I think it can be saved.

It's That Time of Year

when all I want to do is walk, walk, walk.  I love it.  It is light until 8:00 PM and that is perfect for me.  I come home from work, eat a little something, take my puppies for a walk, watch the news, and then go for yet another walk.  This time without my puppies.
I must say that I do feel a little bad leaving this one behind...

However, I wouldn't want her chasing free range chickens would I?

Still, she is missing the gradual greening of the fields...

and seeing the many shades of green appearing on trees... 

and the smell of freshly tilled soil...

and watching the way the clouds scatter across the horizon...

 and the blossoming of the trees...

 the pretty, pretty trees...

But, as the sun sets...

she is warm and comfy at home and listening to sound of turkeys gobbling in the distance.

Phlox

It was incredibly warm today. 
Warm enough that my phlox decided to bloom.

A lovely pink ground cover...

that puts a spring in your step...

and a smile on your face :)

Because It's Friday

And I went out to dinner with my sister, and because life is short...

I ate dessert first.
I had a Diet Coke with it.
I am also going to watch The Hunger Games.
So full of contradiction, yet completely satisfied :)
