All Worn Out

After a rambunctious day, Smudge decided she was tired so she found herself a sun puddle and...
laid her sleepy little head down...
for a nice long nap...
and then I finally got some housework done!!!

Today at the Little Red House in the Big Woods

After I finished mowing the lawn today,
I decided to just sit for a few minutes and enjoy the sun with my friends..
Violet

Smudge
While watching Smudge's antics underneath my hosta plant, I looked up and saw a stick bug.
I see at least one each year, however, I have never, ever, ever seen one as big as this one was and I have never, ever, ever seen one eating as this one was.
I'm not a wussy by any means, but I have to admit, it creeped me out.
For perspective, DJ placed his hand next to the stick bug!!!
So I moved on to my next project.  DJ and I made a sitting area above the lower pond.
We cleared out some brush, raked and placed a bench where we can enjoy the view.
It's not quite done yet - I want to cut couple of maples down.
However, before we can proceed with that, we have to get the chain saw sharpened.
Snoop
It's alright though, Snoop has given his approval.
That's enough for me :)
Enjoy your night.

Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers

My friend asked me if I wanted a bag of jalapeno peppers.
Did I want a bag a jalapeno peppers?
Does the sun come up every morning?
Aah, yeah, I wanted them.
I just happened to have a brick of cream cheese and some bacon just waiting to greet them.
Halved, seeded, spooned full of cream cheese, wrapped in a 1/3 of a piece of bacon and secured with a tooth pick.
I baked them at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
Not only did they look good, they were good!!!
Fresh from the garden goodness.
You can't beat that.

Some Day I Will Quilt

I own quilts, I follow quilt blogs, I read quilting books, and I will go to various quilt shops and browse for hours, but I do not quilt.  Yesterday I went to the A Garden of Quilts Show in Caledonia and was in awe at the talent of the quilters.
My favorite thing about quilting is that you can personalize the quilt to reflect the individual you are making it for and it is a reminder of your friendship/love that they will hopefully have forever.
Without further adieu, here are a few photos of my morning adventure...

This (Smudge) was my afternoon adventure...
Quilts without the obligatory cat just isn't right now is it?
Have a great day.
It is supposed to be gorgeous here.

This and That

This summer has felt more like fall rather than summer.  I know many enjoy the cooler temperatures, but I must admit that I have missed the extreme heat and humidity that is associated with Upstate New York summers.
Regardless of how I feel about this subject, Mother Nature has had other plans. There is a nip to the air, the days are getting shorter and the golden rod has bloomed.
It is beautiful though.
The skies are a vibrant blue and have been painted with puffy, white clouds.
My flowers have absolutely thrived this summer.
If my black eyed susans...
and Rose of Sharon bush could talk, they would surely attest to this statement.
I have yet to camp in my tent this summer.
Tonight may very well be the night.
I would ask you to wish me luck with that, however, I have luck with me all the time now...
Lady bugs adorn me now, not just my window sills each fall.
Have a great weekend.
I am off to a quilt show :)

Meet Smudge

Huge ears...
One blue eye, one green...
Two black smudges on the top of her little head...
She's mine now and I am glad to have her.
However, I cannot reitterate the importance of spaying and neutering your animals.
Not all animals are lucky enough to find good homes.
Many are dropped off when they are no longer wanted.
They are not disposable.
Be responsible.
